Tokyo Zephyr Update & The Next Odyssey Project
Greetings fellow Light Train Travelers. Thank you for your continued patience.
We have made our choices for the artwork for Chapters 7 and 8, the three poems and the line art that has been chosen to be included in the book. Two of the line art pieces are for the end pages of the book. Those along with another line art piece still need to be colored so we'd like to offer up a last challenge to the community. All you top flight colorists out there we'd like you to take your best shot at coloring these pieces. Then we will be ready to publish right away after that. The best pieces will be included in the book. Your last chance to be a part of this charitable cause. You have until October 1st.

Odyssey Update 1This first weekend of reading and re-reading Odyssey selections was just as intensely rewarding as last year. I am incredibly grateful to once again be able to share this process with all of you. Having Clive Barker on board for Odyssey II is truly an enlightening and educative experience. There is nothing more thrilling than reading through each of the entries and then re-reading the chapters that truly resonate and carry with them immense writing skill. This story could have gone in so many worthy directions and genres, and there was no end to the creativity and storytelling skill on so many of the submissions.
The people in my life were adequately warned, but there were still those that questioned my sanity and work methods as I stayed up for the duration of the weekend meticulously poring over eachof the entries... then starting over and reading them again.

Spirit Day 2012"Ultimately, I want Spirit Day to make just one person feel little bit better about his or herself, to feel safe enough in their own skin and to be proud of who they are" - Brittany McMillan
In memory of the young LGBT people who lost their lives to suicide, Brittany encouraged her friends to wear purple on a day in October -- a day that came to be known as Spirit Day. Since then, GLAAD has helped turn Spirit Day into a global event that inspires millions of individuals, celebrities, TV personalities, media outlets, companies and schools to wear purple in a stand against bullying.
While Spirit Day does focus on the LGBT community, I believe that it's anti-bullying message is relevant to every community. It only get's better, if we take the pledge to make it so.
Practice compassion and understanding, and treat others how you would like to be treated and we can make a difference.

Odyssey, Clive and PETAFor those just tuning in, I have the privilege of working very closely with the Odyssey II Project with Clive Barker and I couldn't be more excited. The following is my personal opinion on the project, Clive and PETA, so I encourage you to direct any conversation regarding what you read here, to the comments below, so I can respond

First, I'm a huge fan of Clive Barker's work. His artwork and his stories have entranced me for years but beyond that, he's truly a deviant. *CliveBarker has become an active member of the community, submitting his artwork and commenting on others. He's a perfect fit in my opinion, but that's not entirely why I'm writing today.
Clive's initial choice for a cause to donate the proceeds of this project to, is PETA and if you've been watching the #ODYSSEYPROJECT unfold, you've certainly seen several opinions in regards to the organization.

Charity: Water Starts the Process for the Well!I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who participated in the charity: water project I wrote about in February of this year. Whether you were able to actively donate to, read up on, or help spread the word about this honorable cause, I genuinely felt touched by the actions of every person who took the time to participate.
I got so many inspiring and heart-warming Notes from deviants far and wide -- from those who had just donated to those who had no means to donate monetarily but who happily spread the word to others. Many even selflessly pledged their own birthdays, asking for donations to this great cause in lieu of gifts. In a world where a lot of the news headlines are depressing and bleak, my faith in the power of good and caring was restored by the deviantART community.
Some say that one should participate in charity for charity's sake, and I fully believe this.

Shepard Fairey - - CRIMINAL.Shepard Fairey, the artist responsible for the Obama "Hope" poster that contributed so importantly to Obama achieving the presidency of the United States four years ago, plead guilty today to criminal contempt in charges that came from his manipulating evidence in a lawsuit brought against him for using an AP photograph as a reference for the "Hope" poster. Shepard Fairey was sentenced to two years of probation and 300 hours of community service.

Film Improvements
Film submission through Sta.sh
The first major change for Film is that Sta.sh is now properly equipped to support film submissions! While it was sort of possible in the past, Sta.sh can now store and submit film files the same way other filetypes can be stored and submitted.
Keep in mind that you have to have film submission privileges in order to submit films to deviantART. For more information on this, please read this FAQ: :faq842:
Film Deviation Page Changes

No problem and with any luck I'll stick with the habit.

I'm looking forward to the next issue you guys bring out, $4 USD is a bargain for an anthology style comic in Australia. ^^ We're usually charged $15+ per comic despite the fact that most people can't afford to pay that much on a regular basis and it makes regular purchases difficult. :/
