Really nice piece Scott. Instead of what a lot of modern artists tend to do with Kirby and add lots of line and texture that wasn't there or is unnecessary you stuck to his art and added just the right dimension and weight you the line to bring it out. The big blocky shadows on the costume to the 'speed' lines and gradients added by your background brush strokes, all unifying to push Black Bolt off the page.

If I had to find something to criticize I would say his eyes lose a little of their intensity and weight. You have synthesized Royer, Sinnott and Giacoia but added a few touches of your own. I'd love to have seen you ink an entire story to see how you would have settled into inking him on a regular basis.

The only reason I didn't give you full stars for vision and originality was because you did exactly what I would have done and tried to emulate your heroes.

Really nice job, Scott and wish DC would hire you to re-ink some of the early Jimmy Olsen's.
