Welcome to WILLOW WEIR by DeevElliott Welcome to WILLOW WEIR by DeevElliott
This is a map of the town of Willow Weir and the surrounding area. In the center is the Wild Woods where much of the activity in the weir goes on. Victor (Badger) Stoker's house is smack, bang, in the middle of the Wild Woods. It has been in the Stoker family for generations. Victor's father, Lewis Bellamy Stoker was mayor of the Weir and leader of the "Burrows Brigade" until the end of Worlds War 3. "Burrows" was the name most of the animals used for the portals between the worlds. Other worlders tend to refer to them as portals.

The stone circles are used to mark the points in the Weir where there are known portals and are guarded by the animals from the woods to make sure there is no unauthorized travel between the dimensions. They are the TSA of the Weir and are under the protection of the Great God Pan himself.

The homes of Doctor Moreau and Farmer McGregor are on the outside of the Weir although McGregor's lettuce and carrot patches are just inside and feed many of its inhabitants. Unfortunately McGregor isn't happy about this and many of those in the Weir have paid a hefty price to feed their families by ending up in his wife's pies.

I'll post a labeled version shortly.

This reminds me of the Smurf map found in the very first page of the book.

Beautiful work Dave

Worldbuildingwise, to have a map is a great idea and help as for the creators as for the readers. Storywise, one can already visit some places and imagine, what happens there, what happened and what could happen. Visually, its a beautiful map. Nice one.

I love how you got the slightly-aged texture on the map and on the folds, it looks great :goodjob: revamp

Thanks!

Doing things like maps is always a fun to do.  It helps me keep track of where characters are and for people to spot little hidden eggs.

Thank you. I drew the map myself based on Ernest H. Shepard's original map from 'Wind in the Willows.' It's expanded slightly to capture a little more of the Wild Woods.

Welcome.
Ahh I thought there I had noticed familiarity with it. It has been a long time since I read those books. I gather I should have guessed based on the Title.

Either way I do enjoy what you did here. =)

I so admire the scope of this project. So many modern comics seem...small now days. So it's refreshing to see this, which is both ambitious and well-realized.

I am aware of how ambitious this is, so I'm taking it one story and one world at a time.  I have a big plan and an end game, but the end game for these characters, not the world.  The world I have even bigger plans for.  ;-)

It sounds like you have it all planned out and I can't wait to see how it all develops :)
Is there going to be an overarching threat or would that be giving away too much?

There are several threats.  One giant one that won't hopefully come about for millions of years, although someone is trying to bring that day forward, which makes the second threat. There will also be plenty of plotting and plans to take over different worlds by other rulers.  There have been three Wars of the Worlds and are fourth is looming.

Ah, a distant but impending Apocalypse and someone is trying to bring it about ahead of schedule? Now that is intriguing!
And of course, the power struggles sound interesting as well. Three War of the Worlds? I suppose with such a rich and varied collection of
creatures/people/races, clashes were inevitable

Whatever "human nature" truly is there are plenty of these other races that have all too similar traits.

This reminds me of the map on the opening of the Asterix and Obelix books I used to read! Is this the first art we see from you here? I didn't knew you were an artist yourself :O

They'll be more maps as the series moves on.  Wonderland, Oz, Neverland etc...

I started in the industry as an artist.  Mainly inking for Marvel and 2000AD.  Kinda got trapped in the publishing/editing side of the business after the success of the original A1 and Deadline magazine.

Trying to get back into it as a hobby.

This is a map of the town of Willow Weir where the events of the strip "The WEIRDING WILLOWS" start.

More Weirding Willows stuff here: deevelliott.deviantart.com/gal…

It's set in the late 19th century in England.  There will be more maps when I get around to them.
