Description
This is page 1 of a three page story I wrote and inked <cough> years ago. My good friend and frequent collaborator at Marvel, Doug Braithwaite, supplied the pencils.
It was a grim story that reflected how I felt then (and now) about how we are polluting our own environment.
Elephants are being wiped out for just their tusks. We have entire species of fish that never get to grow old. All so those in the 'civilized countries' can kill themselves by over eating.
Have you heard the expression "pissing in your own pool"? That's the human race for you.
The main character, JORDAN, was named after one of my art heroes Sydney Jordan who created the British answer to Buck Rogers, JEFF HAWKE. Jeff Hawke was a newspaper strip that ran in the 1960's into the 70's. More hard science fiction than fantasy. I used to cut them out of the newspaper everyday and stick them in an album.
The three page story will be in issue 260 of Heavy Metal.
ELEPHANTS GRAVEYARD © Elliott, Braithwaite and Yuwono.
